Sophie’s Bread Box
A young girl had a simple idea – to feed the hungry; and so Sophie’s Bread Box was born.

Located in small room at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, volunteers collect and sort non-perishable goods for those in need. Bags filled with food await those who come seeking nourishment. This is a place that feeds the body and the soul.
This ministry has served men, women and children throughout the Raleigh area and is now supported those who need it most, children who can not speak for themselves.
Partnering with Douglas Elementary School in Raleigh, Sophie’s Bread Box now seeks to fill 26 backpacks every weekend with food to sustain children who may otherwise has little to no access to food over the weekends when school is not in session.
This is a completely voluntary ministry which relies solely on the gifts of food and monetary contributions from individuals and and others.
Please join us in our quest to help others less fortunate, donate non perishable items to Sophie’s Bread Box. Items may be left a marked bin located outside St. Mark’s Sanctuary or at the front office.
Monetary donations may be made through this secure website via Paypal or personal checks can be made payable to St Marks UMC located at 4801 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
To request your donation to go directly to the BackPack Buddies Program please include Douglas Backpacks on your checks memo line and 100% of the proceeds will be spent buying food for the children in this program. All donations are tax deductible.
Most of all please pray for the continuing success of this Ministry to reach those in need, as well as those that volunteer their time and support those who lift up their hearts and their bellies to be filled.
